"Previously, we had a clear difference between planned and actual production rates. Without reliable data, it took a long time to improve anything. Now we can prioritise the right efforts quickly because we know where to focus. We solve real problems with facts, not guesswork." says Nils Hunyadi, Production Administrator at Kavli in Eslöv
Kavli, a leading Norwegian food company founded in 1893 by Olav Kavli, is renowned for its innovative products, including Primula, the world’s first spreadable cheese. Today, Kavli operates across Norway, Sweden, Finland, and the UK, producing a wide range of popular foods such as mustards, cheese spreads, mayonnaise, dressings, sauces and much more.
All profits generated by Kavli are channelled into the Kavli Trust, supporting charitable causes focused on mental health, environmental sustainability, and children’s welfare.
By partnering with Good Solutions and using their platform, Kavli gained real-time visibility, solved long-standing bottlenecks, and gave operators the tools to drive performance from the factory floor.
Uncovering hidden production inefficiencies
Before adopting Good Solutions platform, Kavli faced significant challenges with unclear production speeds and downtime data. The team grappled with frequent machine stoppages and slow changeovers, compounded by limited visibility into root causes.
“We had a considerable gap between planned and actual speeds,” says Nils Hunyadi, Production administrator at Kavli in Eslöv, Sweden. “The lack of accurate data made improvement difficult and time-consuming.”
An operator adds, “Before Good Solutions, it was frustrating not knowing exactly why we had stoppages. It felt like we were always waiting on maintenance without understanding priorities.”
Real-time data drives targeted action for cutting losses across the line
By implementing Good Solutions platform at the end of 2022, Kavli achieved clear visibility of actual production conditions, enabling faster root-cause analysis and targeted improvements. The intuitive interface quickly won over operators, who found the system user-friendly and beneficial to their daily tasks.
“Good Solutions has completely changed the way we look at and solve problems,” says one operator. “The system is simple, and we got into it quickly. It feels like we’re being supported, not monitored.”
“Now we prioritise our action and improvements effectively because we know exactly where to focus,” says Nils. “We are addressing real problems with accurate data rather than assumptions.”
A team leader further highlights, “Our morning meetings are much more productive. We see yesterday’s performance and instantly discuss how to address any issues. Everyone feels more involved and driven and knows what our main operational challenges are.”
Engaged and empowered operators create exceptional results. Like 5 000 tons increased production with the same resources
Since implementing Good Solutions platform, Kavli has increased Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), minimised Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), and made changeovers faster and more precise, significantly reducing overall downtime – planned and unplanned.
In 2024 alone, Kavli produced an additional 5 000 tons compared to 2023, meeting increased demand without additional shifts or new machinery.
“Our data is now trustworthy and precise,” says Nils. “We see clearly where our potential lies and make informed decisions to resolve issues effectively.”
Operators also experience higher engagement levels due to clearer goals and the ability to influence production positively.
“It’s motivating to see that the data we provide leads directly to improvements,” adds another operator.
Looking ahead, Kavli plans to leverage Good Solutions platform further and integrate it deeper into their maintenance workflows, aiming for even lower waste and improved product quality.
“With Good Solutions platform, we’re not just improving productivity—we’re empowering our team to make better decisions faster, leading to fewer losses and better overall quality,” Nils concludes.
“And ultimately, we’re increasing our contribution to our mission at Kavli: Making the world a little bit softer.”
